NPQ Challenge - Waterfall

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Waterfall

There have been a couple of gorgeous waterfall mani's on the stream recently from +Jessica Guilbe and +Jade Bishop.

This is also a favourite design for +Magali Neuville-Bisceglia and it was her birthday yesterday so she should get to do a design that she loves this week xx

You can make your waterfall look lovely and delicate, or halloweeny, or go with other outrageous colours.

The original tutorial here from the very talented +Samantha Tremlin
http://www.thenailasaurus.com/2013/07/waterfall-nail-art-tutorial.html

And another beautiful interpretation from the one and only +Jen PolishAholic:

Please post your pics in the "Weekly Challenge" category and remember to keep the "water" on your nails, not on your cuticles!

Don't drown!

NPQ Challenge - Braided Nails - Showcase

Last week's challenge, braided nails was a huge success, and picking only 6 to showcase was a hassle!
But here are some of the great manis you can see on NPQ:

+Fabiana N did a sweet and classy manicure. She's our Soft Glamour Queen!

+Lauren Mekalian Chose a beautiful purple/yellow combo for her braid.

+Ruth Phelps did amazing dark braids.
More to see on her blog: http://adornedclaw.wordpress.com/

+Kelly S. grey and pink braid has such a sweet look to it, you gotta love it!

+Elie Corzo went full Halloween in her perfectly executed manicure!

+Priscilla NailArt did such an awesome job and original none the less by using striping tape to do the braid. That must have required some patience :)

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Braided nails

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Braided nails

The last couple of challenge themes have been pretty flexible - this week we get back to a distinct design. Google for "braided nail art" if you are unsure of the design we are going for (sometimes also called fishtail braid).

We should still see a lot of variation with this challenge through the week:
- Any colours you like - so you can think about fall/autumn, Halloween, or something bright and funky!
- Any number of nails can be braided.
- Tips or full nail.

Please post your pics in the "Weekly Challenge" category and as always, clean around the cuticles before posting so that you can really brag about your braid!

NPQ Challenge - Viva Las Vegas! - Showcase

Every week we will showcase 5-6 manicures of the past week's challenge on NPQ. Let's start with this fun challenge of Las Vegas:

+Keely Gallagher chose to paint the magic of Las Vegas shows with her manicure

+Mary Daniel went for the King!

+Margriet Sijperda did her rendition of the Las Vegas sign.

+Heather Van Hove chose to highlight the Phantom Of The Opera show of Las Vegas.

+Feather Stolzenbach went super original and recreated the Bellagio ceiling.

 +Magali Neuville-Bisceglia went full casino.

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Viva Las Vegas!

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Viva Las Vegas!

I have been thinking about doing a dice/casino challenge for a while and I was reminded of this by  +Heather Van Hove lovely NOTD a couple of days ago.

But I thought it might be fun to open the theme up a bit and figured why stop at dice when we can bring the whole of Las Vegas to our nails?  I'm seeing some bright, bling, flashy and fun mani's this week.

Loads of places for inspiration:
- Casino designs: Dice, slots, roulette, cards (I am hoping for a Royal Flush mani from +Margriet Sijperda).
- Vegas shows: http://www.lasvegas.com/shows-and-events/
- China Glaze Cirque du Soleil collection

Please post your pics in the "Weekly Challenge" category and as always, don't forget your cleanup before posting. Vegas deserves your best.

Optional Challenge: Flash Your Stash
As we are going with flashy, your optional challenge this week is to organise your stash and flash it. Post stash pics in the Precious Possessions category. I don't know if I will be brave enough to do a cull like +Gemma Duncan but I certainly need to get organised.

Vegas, baby! Yeah!

NPQ 1rst Giveaway

The Giveaway is getting closer!!

The prize for our first giveaway will be a fabulous Bornprettystore haul.  Whether it is decals, rhinestones, feathers, nail art tools .. a Queen (or King +Scott Sachs ) can never have enough nail accessories to brighten up a mani :)

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Texture

NPQ Weekly Challenge - Texture

Whether you love it or hate it, texture polish looks like it is here to stay.  What is your favourite?  Sand, leather, fuzzy, velvet?

We always go for designs or techniques, this week it is all about show-casing the polish.  I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about with the texture polish until I bought some a few months ago.  And then I was like "Woooaaahhh - love this!"

Don't go out and buy texture polish just for the challenge if you are not sure about it.  Make your own!  I would hate for you to spend money on something that ends up getting discarded at the back of your stash.  Have a look at the mani's coming in through the week to make a more informed decision.

How to do DIY texture finish:
+Mary Daniel already shared this:http://www.thedailyvarnish.com/2012/11/28/diy-liquid-sand-manicure/

Or you can use salt/sugar:
http://www.simplygorgeousnails.com/2013/05/diy-textured-nail-polish.html

And if you want further inspiration, remember that October is Breast Cancer awareness month, so pink is gonna work well for the next few weeks.

Please post your pics in the "Weekly Challenge" category and as always, don't forget your cleanup before posting.

Let's get gritty!
