Fabs' Maniswap with Deinitisa

... and I wanted  to add unicorns (but there are no unicorns)

A good morning to everyone!

Lately, I have really been enjoying challenging myself with #ManiSwaps!

For my first official post on the blog, I thought I would share with you my maniswap with the lovely Deinitisa Amarawi on G+. She asked if I wanted to do a maniswap and I jumped at the idea. Her nail art always has a wonderful, fresh feel to it and I couldn't wait. She chose my holo chevrons with neon accent. I chose her beautiful rainbow mani dry brush stamped with black. Her mani just made me happy. :)

The two top ones are the recreations and the originals are below.

A big thank you to the lovely and talented Deinitisa! (Check out Deinitisa's G+ post for details on her recreation of my mani.)

For my recreation of her mani. I used the following polishes:

Zoya "Sooki"
Deborah Lippmann "Lara's Theme"
Deborah Lippmann "Dear Mr. Fantasy"
Deborah Lippmann "Weird Science"
Color Club "Almost Famous"
Cult Nails "All Out"
Nubar "Pasadena Purple"
Kiko 336
BarryM "Guava"
Serum No. 5 "Pure Glow Getter" (Yes, it does glow in the dark...)

Stamping plate:

MoYou Kitty Collection 02

It was so much fun to do this mani! Now, you will notice that Deinitisa chose polishes with a little glitter. I only noticed this after I was done. I know... No one has ever accused me of being overly observant. :P

I also used the dry brush technique (here is a tutorial by The Lacquerologist). I started on my left and then did my dominant hand and because I am not used to doing dry brush, my dominant hand came out better than the left (submissive? less dominant?...) as I got more comfortable with the technique. But of course, silly me, I did not take a photo... Queue the eye rolling.

The only thing that made me a little sad was that I did not have the same stamping plate so I could not make it an exact replica, but I loved the final product anyway. :)

Remember I mentioned that it glows in the dark? Well, it does... but I was not impressed with the effect... Am I wrong? I don't know. Just looked messy to me. Although the Serum No. 5 base "Pure Glow Getter" is just to die for!!

(I know... I remember to take a glow in the dark picture while I am not excited about it... and I forget to take a photo of my dominant hand... Yay for me)

With that, I leave you all, wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Until next time, faithfully yours, Fabiana.

Mags' Reverse Stamping Rainbow Abstract nail art

Hello Everyone!

Doing my nails lately felt so much like a chore to me! So I rocked plain black for the past week and finally today i felt the need and will to do something a bit more creative!

It's supposedly the first day of summer and we're starting it with... RAIN! blah! So i added some bright rainbowy colors on my nails to lift up my mood!

The two accent nails are done using the reverse stamping technique. On a plastic bag (the ones you use to freeze food) i started by applying a layer of HK Girl top coat , then once dry I stamped using Moyou Artist collection plate 2 .

Without waiting I filled in some rectangles randomly using rainbow colors polishes. And once it all dried, I added a thick layer of Essie - Blanc.

And at that point the waiting game began. It gave me time to do the dishes and others chores that you never wanna do just after you have done your nails! About 2 hours later it was time to play!
On bare nails, I put a layer of base coat on 1 finger than placed the decal right away and smoothed it out with a Q-tip. Topped it HK Girl top coat again and then I cleaned the surplus of decals off my cuticles. And then only did i move onto doing the next one, and then the other hand.

I added the black nails afterwards to avoid any mess or drama!

The great thing about this technique is that it allows you to do your both hands easily, no more struggling with your dominant hand.

This is my left hand which is my dominant hand

I hope you'll get inspired to try this technique if you haven't done it yet! Let me know if you do.

NPQ Challenge - Patchwork - Showcase

The second NPQ challenge of 2015 was patchwork. It's fun to do even if it can be time consuming but the result is well worth it! Many options of colors, shapes and style makes it a great challenge for us all. So let's patch things up and look at what's been done on NPQ last week:

This week we are taking part of the ever so growing consumerism society that is ours by doing a brands & logos challenge. Why? Well because we can and we are fabulous! ;)

The first challenge of 2015 was neon. Because there's no better way to start the new year with bright colors, it helps us get over the festivities of the New Year and brings us brightness and happiness.
The moderators of the Nail Polish Queens wish you all a happy new year 2015.

Here are the pretty manicures of our members for the neon challenge:
